Dovecote Primary School, based in Wolverhampton undertook the HugglePetsCIC Animal Assisted Intervention Programme to help improve the wellbeing of their pupils following the pandemic and closure of schools. Having chosen the 'Anxiety and Low Mood' six week programme for their pupils, they noticed a considerable difference in the moods, behaviours and overall wellbeing of the children within a couple of weeks of attending our sessions.

Feedback from Teachers include:

Ahmad (aged 10) enjoys the sessions and takes part all the activities and responds positively. - Class Teacher

Faith B (aged 10) enjoys taking part in the sessions, although doesn't like going first in the activities, but does well and takes part in discussions. - Class Teacher

Feedback from Therapist include:

Despite missing a couple of sessions, Josh (aged 10) appeared to overcome his shyness and was able to speak in front of the group about his feelings. He seemed to enjoy all the activities and opened up more in the presence of animals.

Ahmad, Brandon and Faith meeting Mabel the Therapy Rabbit

Talking in group helped Brandon (aged 10) with his confidence. Identifying causes for his worries, coping skills as well as setting goals for himself allowed Brandon to explore his world better and understand his needs better too.

We are pleased to have been part of these positive changes within young people who are struggling with their mental health.
