Low Hill Nursery, based in Wolverhampton undertook the HugglePetsCIC Animal Assisted Activities Programme to help improve the wellbeing of their pupils. The Animal Assisted Activities six week programme is designed to align with the Mental Health curriculum for schools, and covers topics such as basic emotions, healthy eating, exercise, self esteem and confidence building. Below are comments from the school and HugglePetsCIC Mental Health First Aider/SEN Activities Coordinator.

Meet AJ

Feedback from the SEN Activities Coordinator include:

AJ attended all of the six sessions at HugglePets so he got to see a range of animals. AJ did very well when communicating his emotions with me through his chosen communication method. AJ enjoyed engaging with activities and communicated to staff when he needed space. Well done!

Meet Aiden

Feedback from the SEN Activities Coordinator include:

Aiden took being in a new environment in his stride and was very keen to explore, even though this can at times be difficult for him. He was very friendly towards the HugglePets staff and would happily interact with them. Aidan was very gentle when engaging with our animals. Well done!
