Our Services Animal Assisted Therapies Animal Assisted Therapy Animal Assisted Therapy/Interventions (AAT & AAI) - What is it? Animal Assisted Therapy is a therapeutic intervention that incorporates animals, such as dogs/rabbits into a treatment plan. It is used to enhance and complement the benefits of traditional therapy. Our Animal Assisted Therapy (Interventions) sessions are carried out by a trained and qualified therapist and holds an Animal Assisted Therapy Counselling certificate. Animals help people feel at ease in accessing the therapy they need. By incorporating animals, we aim to help break down the stigma of utilising therapy. The programmes we offer at HugglePets in the Community can be both group sessions and one-to-ones. The session topics include the following: Self-Care Managing Stress Anxiety/Depression Trauma Suicide Prevention Relationship Breakdown Other topics can be covered upon request. The sessions are there to help a person understand their own mental wellbeing, build their confidence and improve their self esteem. They are there to have a positive impact on a persons ongoing mental health, as it aids the development of coping mechanisms and strategies to live a fulfilling lifestyle. Adults and Adolescent Animal Assisted Therapy sessions are more appropriate for adolescence and adults is this is more aligned to tradition talking therapies. Children We offer Animal Assisted Interventions and Activities to support younger children as this is delivered in a different way to a traditional therapy session. What is the cost? Group Therapy sessions are partly funded by the National Lottery Community Fund. One to One - 6 Week Programmes Cost per session (Minimum of 6 sessions to be undertaken) Adult (age 18+) £40.00* (Original Cost £60) Adolescent (age 12-17) £40.00* (Original Cost £60) Child (age 5-11) £40.00* (Original Cost £60) *session costs are subsidised and supported for members of the community through our fundraising and grant funding. How many people are in the group? Each session has between 4-10 people. Do different people attend the 6 sessions in a programme or is it the same group of people? No, the people who join the group at week 1 continue throughout the same programme until week 6. Where can I book on to a 6 week therapy programme?
